Since we are in a computerized system to day, there was a recent update for Real ID cards
by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in USA.
Now the questions many people keep asking is that;
Do I need a real ID to fly in 2018?
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will begin implementing REAL ID
enforcement at US airports in January 2018. By October 1, 2020, every air traveler will need
a REAL ID-compliant license (or another acceptable form of ID such as a passport) for
domestic air travel.
What do I need to bring for real ID?
It is provided as a proof of identity, such as a certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate, U.S.
passport, employment authorization document, permanent resident card or foreign passport
with an approved form I-94. Present proof of your Social Security number, such as an SSN
card, W-2 or paystub with full SSN.
Many clients always have this doubt in them when applying for a real id card online
“What type of ID card should i go for”?
Before you renew your driver license or identification card, or apply for one, you must
choose between a REAL ID card and a federal non-compliant one.
But NOTE that some Customers applying for or renewing an a particular AB 60 driver
license are not eligible to receive a REAL ID driver license.
The question? Is AB 60 still valid?
An AB 60 license is valid for driving and for state ID purposes. An AB 60 license is not a
federal ID and cannot be used for certain federal purposes, such as entering restricted parts
of federal buildings. So we always advice our clients to go for a complete REAL ID CARD
OR FEDERAL NON-COMPLIANT ONE.
